About the headmistress
I am a fully qualified and registered secondary school teacher in both Taiwan and the United Kingdom. I possess many years of full time secondary school teaching experience plus two years of teaching in University. I have received numerous awards for creative teaching and also specialised in language digital learning.
From my personal experience of teaching English in Taiwanese schools, and subsequently Chinese in English schools, I fully understand the challenges a student might face when trying to switch between these two languages. This inspired me to devise the best teaching strategies to guide students through these difficulties.
Whilst taking a few years of teaching break in order to concentrate on raising my family, I worked part-time as an interpreter for the British government public authorities. This helped me accumulate further experience in helping people who felt helpless or stranded in this country due to the language barrier. I feel that a firm grasp of language is not only useful in improving one's knowledge of the world, but also acts as a powerful tool to help those in need. This inspired me to arduously hurdle the highest qualification exam in interpreting (DPSI), in order to promise both quality and professionalism to all people who would benefit from my language skills.
Being fluent in both Chinese and English has helped to broaden my horizons and open up fresh life opportunities. I look forward to passing on these skills to my students. Being masterful in two of the most powerful languages in the world is a valuable asset in order to maximise their own potential.
I am also keen in sports. Apart from achieving a distinction in my postgraduate teaching degree, I was also awarded a full sporting blue award with my contribution to table-tennis in University. My many years of achievements in this sport (from primary school to University) has instilled positivity, perseverance, and recognition of teamwork into my general work ethic. With the combined effort of myself, my members of staff, students, parents and the community, I am positive that our school can blossom into a successful and happy learning environment in the upcoming years, in order to help our next generation succeed in achieving their personal goals and targets.
